Frequently Asked Questions

If you have a question not listed here please feel free to contact us.

Q) What payment methods do you offer?
A) We accept PayPal, E-Transfers, Square, Stripe, and Cash On Delivery (not preferred).

Q) Why do some products say on backorder?
A) Most of our products are made on-demand meaning we keep the raw ingredients on hand. In some cases, this may not be ideal. If a product is ordered that is on back order we will inform you of how long it will be before we can successfully finish the product should materials not be readily available. If you have placed a large order we can still deliver or ship the rest of your order unless you otherwise inform us that you will wait according to when we are able to complete the product.

Q) Do you offer Refunds?
A) Due to the nature of dealing with bath and body products we do not accept refunds. However, if we cannot process your order successfully within 1 week (Due to COVID-19 some of our shipments have been delayed a few days) we will gladly refund your money if you contact us to do so.

Q) Do you offer shipping?
A) We have currently implemented Canada Wide Shipping. Free Local delivery is still available to Sault Ste. Marie and area within 48 hrs of placing an order. (Processing may be extended due to COVID-19 up to one week). If for some reason we can not deliver due to an unforeseen reason, we will contact you to make appropriate arrangements. Please be sure to leave the delivery instructions. Deliveries go out between Monday and Friday before 7 pm.

Q) My order says Completed. What does that mean?
A) Completed Status means that your order has been packaged and is ready to be sent out for drop off. We do our best to deliver most orders within the same day that they are completed. However, we may have to wait until the following day to deliver.

Q) Do your products contain harmful chemicals?
A) Our goal is to avoid harsh chemicals by keeping our products as close to natural as possible. Some of our products that contain water for example may use a preservative called Optiphen Plus. Some other products may contain Potassium Sorbate.

Q) What is Potassium Sorbate and is it harmful?
A) Potassium sorbate is a salt of sorbic acid. It’s a natural organic compound found in the berries of the mountain ash. It acts as a preservative in foods, drinks, dietary supplements, personal care products, and cosmetics.
Studies indicate that potassium sorbate has almost the same toxicity as table salt. When it’s used in the recommended dilutions, it is non-sensitizing and non-irritating. Potassium sorbate is EcoCert compliant and is found in the Handbook of Green Chemicals. Also, Australian Certified Organic (ACO) approves its use in organic skincare products.

Q) What is Optiphen Plus and is it harmful?
A) Phenoxyethanol & Caprylyl Glycol & Sorbic Acid (Optiphen Plus) Preservative is a globally approved preservative that is formaldehyde-free, paraben-free, halogen-free and non-isothiazolinone. Optiphen Plus has wide applicability in skincare, sun care, body care, hair care, and colour cosmetics applications.

Q) I don’t quite understand the ingredients listed on my product, what do they all mean?

A) Sometimes the list of ingredients are listed using the INCI Name. INCI names (International Nomenclature Cosmetic Ingredient) are systematic names internationally recognized to identify cosmetic ingredients. Reach out to us if you still don’t understand something and we will do our best to explain in more detail for individual labels.

Q) How do I know that a portion of my sale goes to charity or a cause?
A) We usually forward money to the causes or charities on the last business day of the month. We always provide the direct links to these funds and you will see us posted under the names Rainbow Feather Essentials or Jacqueline Pelletier (Owner/Operator).

COVID-19 Preparedness Plan for Rainbow Feather Essentials

To Our Rainbow Feather Essentials Family,

May 2021 Update: Offering Contactless delivery within Sault Ste. Marie and Area
August 2021 Update: Staff & Household Members have been Fully Vaccinated

The COVID-19 pandemic has forever changed the world as it is having a dramatic impact on our lives, businesses and supply chains. In these unprecedented times, stress and concern can weigh heavily on us all, so we want to reassure you that our top priority continues to be the welfare of our customers and team members. As a business, we recognize that we are a part of the supply chain as we are supplying products to our first responders, local government agencies and customers who are striving to keep themselves and their families safe. In these times of uncertainty, we want to ensure our customers that our inventory is good and that we will be continuing to receive shipments at this current time. We are all in this together, and we are doing our best to navigate in this quickly evolving environment, as we adhere to hygiene recommendations, government updates, and all regulatory requirements. In this climate, we are and will continue to be, making decisions on a day-to-day basis, never losing sight of the end goal which is to ensure the safety of our customers, while also remaining committed to delivering our goods and products during this difficult time.

With this in mind, we wanted to share an update on how we have already enhanced our safety protocols as we follow the guidance of global health experts at the World Health Organization (WHO) and Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

We have instructed staff to follow the public health authorities’ guidelines regarding good hygiene by reminding them to frequently wash their hands and sanitize.
Any shipments received are sanitized prior to entering the workspace.
We have implemented regular sanitizing of all work areas and tools.
We have re-organized the work spaces to provide easier sanitation protocols.
Any staff who have travelled are automatically self-isolating for the recommended 14-day period.
If a team member or someone in their household becomes sick, all production will stop for a period of time until it is safe to resume.

We are incredibly proud of team members who have been working to fulfill our customer orders for personal care products, and their associated packaging. In these uncertain times when the deluge of information can feel overwhelming, we want to reassure you that we are mindfully working to balance the recommended steps to minimize the spread of COVID-19, while also ensuring that we can make these necessities available for our customers.

As such, these are the actions that we will be taking to not only help our employees stay safe and do our part in flattening the curve but also to continue to provide goods to you, our customers:

We are encouraging our customers to place their orders online for contactless local delivery following social distancing protocols. Please know we will be working to fulfill orders as quickly as possible. This is not a time to panic, and we want to reassure you that our inventory is thoroughly sanitized and in good standing order. We are truly all in this together, and we encourage that everyone is mindful to be kind. Together, we will meet the challenges of these times.

We feel that these changes are essential at this time. We also recognize that you, our customers, may feel frustrated with the extra time it may take to receive your order. Please know we are doing our very best and ask for your patience and support while we do our part to keep our part of the supply chain open and operating as safely and effectively as possible. And, lastly, we cannot emphasize enough that this is the time to be kind and mindful of the fact that we are all in this together. Please be respectful of the policies that we have implemented, and please work with us as we continue to work tirelessly to meet your needs. We appreciate you and you really are a part of the Rainbow Feather family..

Stay Safe

Sincerely,

Rainbow Feather Essentials
